The Groundhog makes short work of grass, leaves, and other
ground clutter. It pulverizes surface material into the soil
making a smooth seedbed. It tracks with your ATV for total
maneuverability. This includes using reverse with the plow
engaged. The ability to backup is critical for tight spots
like roadbeds and firebreaks.
The plow is adjustable to multiple depths by removing and
replacing a tractor pin. You can flip the plow upside down
to put it in transport mode. This lets you take the plow anywhere
you can take your ATV. Imagine the possibilities!
About The GroundHog
Assembly - The GroundHog ATV disc
plow is pre-assembled at the factory. Just remove it from
the box and bolt the plow head to the plow. It’s
that simple.
Lightweight - The GroundHog by Tufline
weighs only 45 pounds. This is truly lightweight when compared
to other ATV plows. Some can weigh as much as 800 pounds!
No partners are needed to help load and unload. No trailer
is needed to haul the plow. The GroundHog attaches to your
ATV. Just put your ATV onto your truck and you are on your
way.
Compact - The GroundHog by Tufline is
only 22 inches wide. It uses 8-inch discs. The plowing depth
is fully adjustable from just skimming the surface to approximately
3 and 1/2 inches. Most ATV plows are much larger. Some are
as large as 4 feet x 4 feet x 2 feet tall.
Transporting - With your GroundHog by
Tufline ATV disc plow in transport position (discs up) you
just drive your ATV right on to your truck. Upon arriving
at the location you intend to plow you can drive your ATV
off the truck and straight to your food plots. Since the
plow doesn't touch the ground in transport position it’s
like not having a plow attached at all. When you are ready
to plow just place the plow into the plowing position (discs
down) and go to it! With most other ATV plows you will need
a truck, trailer, and a friend or two to help you, and hopefully
you can get to a location near your food plot.
Plowing Position - To put the plow in
plowing position you need to get the rear of the ATV up
approximately 3 or 4 inches. There are several ways to
do this...find and indentation in the terrain that allows
you to pull the ATV over it, dig a hole to pull over, or
get the nose of the ATV down 20 to 30 degrees (terrace
row is an example). You will find the way
that suits you best. Then you pull the tractor
pin out and flip the plow over from discs pointing
up (transport position) to discs down (plowing position).
Note: Be sure you have the open end of
the "V" pointing
towards the front of the ATV. Adjust the
up and down adjustment bar so that the discs touch the
ground. Re-insert your tractor pin and carter pin.
PLOW!
Storage - It's easy store! There is
no need for a large storage area. You don't have to store
it out in the weather. The GroundHog by Tufline ATV disk
plow is lightweight and compact. It fits easily in a truck
toolbox, or on a shelf in the workshop or garage out of
your way.
One “Man” Operation - One
person can easily handle the GroundHog by Tufline ATV disk
plow. Other ATV plows normally take more than one person
to use effectively due to their weight and size.
Virtually Maintenance Free - The GroundHog
by Tufline ATV disc plow has no hydraulics, no fittings
to grease, no ratchets, or rubber tires to go flat or dry
rot. Our test plow has over 600 miles of hard plowing over
4 years without a single failure. We do recommend that you
inspect your plow after each use and tighten nuts or lubricate
as necessary.
Works on most ATVs - Unlike other ATV
plows the GroundHog by Tufline ATV disc plow does not require
a large liquid cooled ATV to operate effectively. It can
be used with little risk of overheating or causing wear
and tear to gears, belts, and other systems on your ATV.

Using the GroundHog for Wildlife Farming
Plowing - Let's have some fun! Plowing
with the GroundHog by Tufline doesn't have to be like work.
You don't have to drive at a snails pace for the plow to
be effective. It not only gets the job done quicker you
and your ATV stay cooler in the process. Your ATV can back
up with your GroundHog by Tufline engaged too. That's right,
it plows in reverse! We are not aware of any other ATV plow
that can do that. This capability is critical for plowing
in tight places. Unlike its competition no additional weight
is needed on the plow. The weight of the ATV and the driver
is enough to cause the plow to penetrate the ground effectively.
You can plow faster with the GroundHog by Tufline ATV disc
plow. For best results plow in a combination of oblong circles,
figure eights, and straight rows back and forth. Don’t
worry about getting the plow stuck in the woods trying to
get to your food plot. Wherever you go on your ATV the GroundHog
by Tufline can go with you. Imagine the possibilities!
Planting – Preparing the soil
to receive seed, and planting it, is a snap with the GroundHog.
You don’t need any other tool. In fact, the soil needs
no further preparation after you finish plowing. You will
have a pulverized, relatively smooth seedbed. Just spread
your seed and fertilizer per instructions. To insure good
seed-to-soil contact just adjust the plow to barely clip
the ground and run back over your plot. Between the lugs
of your tires and the GroundHog the seed will be slightly
covered. You are done. None of the food plots you see on
our web site have been dragged.
Food Plots - Game animals need three
things to thrive: cover, water, and food. Planting food
plots is really farming for wildlife. You plant food plots
to improve the health, size, antler strength and bulk, and
generally enhance the natural habitat the Good Lord made.
Turkey hunters, deer hunters, moose hunters duck hunters,
quail hunters and every other type of game hunter can benefit
from planting food plots. In many cases tractors and other
traditional farming equipment fit the bill. However, game
biologists believe that smaller food plots in remote places
work as well or better than large green fields. The animals
are more likely to use smaller plots because they are less
exposed. Now when you think about food plots the experts
and good old common sense tells you that size and location
matter. This is especially true with the GroundHog by Tufline.
You are not limited to larger, easily assessable, and easy
to maneuver on sites. For instance, think about turning
radius and being able to utilize reverse. Anywhere your
ATV can go, the GroundHog by Tufline can plow. Imagine the
possibilities!
Duck Hunting and Swampy Bottom Land -
Are you a duck hunter, or do you have ground where you want
to put a food plot that is muddy and swampy? The GroundHog
by Tufline is the ATV disk plow for you. It is the only
ATV disk plow that works effectively in muddy, sloppy soil.
The reason that it works so well is that the ATV controls
the plowing depth. As long as your ATV can make it through
it the GroundHog by Tufline can plow it. Other heavier ATV
plows bog down in swampy ground because of the weight of
the plow. The GroundHog is the ATV accessory that works!
Using the GroundHog for Landscaping
Landscaping - The GroundHog by Tufline
works in landscaping applications. The GroundHog and your
ATV can replace a tractor and plow in many cases. Suppose
you have a small area that is hard to maneuver in, or
a place where the ground is soft from previous work. Your
tractor is too big or too heavy. The GroundHog by Tufline
and your ATV is the answer. You can even mount the GroundHog
on zero turn radius lawn mowers!
Using the GroundHog for Gardening
Vegetable Gardens - That initial plowing
in the spring is tough. It can be especially back breaking,
bone jarring work if you have to use a tiller. The GroundHog
by Tufline can do the hard work in your vegetable, or
other garden for you. Just attach the GroundHog ATV disc
plow to your ATV, UTV or similar vehicle and gardening
is a snap. The GroundHog is the ATV accessory that every
ATV owner should not be without.
Other Uses
The GroundHog by Tufline is an extremely versatile tool.
It can be used for maintaining firebreaks, weed control,
grooming horse arenas, grooming rodeo arenas, maintaining
motocross and dirt tracks, and maintaining ATV tracks just
to name a few. The possibilities are endless.
Adjust the plow to ground level and runs over high weeds.
The ATV will knock down the weeds and the GroundHog will
begin to cut and uproot them.
You can use the GroundHog as a drag. Just turn the plow
backwards (the “V” made by the plow should be
pointing toward the rider). Adjust the depth so it skims
the ground, and use it as a drag to remove clutter from
your food plot or other site.
